Keep Moving This Winter 6th November 2019
When winter weather keeps us cooped up indoors, exercise may be the the last thing on our mind. But even in winter, exercise is important, especially patients with arthritis. In cold weather, settling down by the fire sounds appealing but getting up and exercising is the key to beating the winter blues.
Exercise gives us our brains a rush of endorfins, brain hormones, that generally make us feel better. Also, getting outdoors during daylight hours increases our Vitamin D, which is good for our bones, muslces and teeth.
For most people, a combination of flexibility, aerobic and strength exercises is great! If the weather is too bad, try swimming or a pilates class.
